Statin drugs are believed to diminish CoQ10 levels in the body. That is why many doctors recommend that their patients increase their intake of CoQ10 if they are taking statins. CoQ10 also helps reduce the severity and occurrence of some of the side effects (most commonly muscle pain) of statin drugs.
By combining 200 mg of CoQ10 and 200 mcg of Selenium daily individuals showed a 41% reduction in cardiovascular-related mortality 12 years later.

Since 1960, universities and researchers have published over 1,600 articles in medical journals demonstrating CoQ10’s benefits and importance. In 1978, Peter D. Mitchell won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his discovery of the significance of CoQ10 in energy production.
